Tony Stark Nearly Told Thanos To F**k Off

When Tony stole the Infinity stones from Thanos in Endgame, he famously responded to Thanos  line of “I am inevitable.”  He answered back “…and I, I am Iron Man.”

However, that was not the response that was used in all the takes that were shot. It was revealed that Tony’s ending comment was added later in the process. So after they worked through what Tony might say, they decided to make a call back to the beginning. After filming a number of different takes, it WAS inevitable that something more “Salty”might be said.

That was expressed in a recent interview with Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stehen McFeely.  When speaking to the Empire Film Podcast, they were asked about the I am Iron Man line.

“It was actually relatively late in the game,” Markus said. In some ways, it seemed juvenile, but it seems awesome. There were plenty of alternative takes on the line during filming though. I think at one point he said f*** you at one point (laughs). Didn’t he say f*** off? He may have said…you do a lot of takes.

In the end, the pair decided to go with the now famous line as opposed to Tony telling Thanos where to go…so to speak. They also tried the scene with Tony saying nothing at all. That didn’t seem right with the kind of personality Tony, as played by Robert Downey Jr., had. Were you satisfied with the ending exchange between Tony and Thanos?
