10. Heavenly Delusion (Season 1)
Heavenly Delusion is an anime based on Masakazu Ishiguro’s manga series. The post-apocalyptic sci-fi mystery is set 15 years after a disaster that appears to have wiped out modern civilization. A group of children lives in a nursery-like facility, cut off from the outside world and taught to fear it. They’re raised by robots, and their only hope is to find “Heaven,” a mysterious place where a girl who looks just like Maru has been living.
While there aren’t any big-name stars attached to this adaptation, Production I.G. is the studio behind it. The music, composed by Kensuke Ushio (known for his work on Space Dandy and Chainsaw Man), sounds promising, and the trailer looks intriguing. The teaser’s percussion wood instruments are reminiscent of Steve Reich’s 1973 “Music for Pieces of Wood” and Geinoh Yamashirogumi’s Akira soundtrack.
Overall, I’m excited to see what this new series has in store.
Heavenly Delusion is set to premiere on April 1.
