Max Removes 255 Episodes of Looney Tunes – But There’s Good News
Out of nowhere, Max has purged 255 episodes of the original Looney Tunes from their app. Why? No idea. It’s a bit odd, considering Looney Tunes is a Warner Bros. IP—you’d think the company would want to keep these classic cartoons in-house. If you’re a millennial, like me, then you may have watched these cartoons on reruns with your grandparents. Those were great memories, and these are great cartoons, so it’s disappointing that they’re not on Max, especially when the app has kept other Looney Tunes content in their library.
Where to Watch Looney Tunes Now?
Luckily, Tubi (which is quickly becoming the MVP of all streaming apps) has stepped in to scoop up these classic toons. Starting April 1st, fans will be able to watch some of the content for free. Tubi is addding The Looney Tunes Show and The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, which ran for five seasons. Tubi is an ad-supported platform, meaning you won’t need a subscription to enjoy the show.
If you grew up with Looney Tunes or are looking to introduce your kids to some of the best cartoons ever made, Tubi is now your go-to option. The platform already hosts a plethora of classic cartoons, and it seems like Bugs Bunny and the gang will be in good company.
A Legacy Spanning Generations
Looney Tunes dates back to the 1930s and ran all the way through the 1960s, giving us some of the most iconic animated shorts in history. Since then, it has spun off into numerous other cartoons, movies, and video games. Off the top of my head, I can think of Tiny Toon Adventures, Space Jam, and many more.
No matter what age you are, chances are you’ve watched something Looney Tunes-related at some point in your life. It’s a franchise that has stood the test of time, and while it may not be on Max anymore, at least Tubi is stepping up to preserve these animated classics.
