‘Tusk’- Kevin Smith’s Strange Walrus Horror Flick Possibly Getting A Sequel

Director Kevin Smith’s 2014 horror flick Tusk, by far is one of the craziness, insane, and nightmarish flick’s Smith has ever done. Though not a cult classic, it does have a huge fan base, and fans have been patiently waiting for the possibility of a sequel. Well, we are happy to announce, according to /Film, that it appears Smith seems to be up to the idea of making a sequel to the absurd 2014 movie, Tusk.

Justin Long — during an interview with /Film supposedly spilling the news, he goes on to say. “You’ll be happy to hear, Kevin Smith just annou– I mean, I guess they’re talking about it. They’re doing Tusk 2, I think” the actor said.

“He texted us all the other day, Haley [Joel Osment] and Genesis [Rodriguez], and he told us that he wanted to do it, and I thought it was a joke. And then I realized he was being serious. And then one of the [other] interviewers said, ‘Yeah, he said the same to me.'”

So yes, this is apparently an idea. Smith has actually put together a sequel to his odd Walrus flick, and I expect if he can knock out a script and get the funding for it, something we will eventually see in the future. Smith and fans alike have been saying they all want to see another Walrus film, besides the fact Smith has even bashed his own film by making jokes about it, calling it a “dopey walrus movie.”

So the big question is why? Considering the original to more or less known as one of Smith’s not-so-great movies, it didn’t perform well at the box office, and it was really just a bizarre and odd horror flick with comedy that was critically divisive, and it didn’t perform well in box office making 1.8 million. So the question we ask is why? Well, they made Clerks 3 only because of selling Blue-Rays? So maybe they sold a lot of copies of Tusk? Who knows, but what we do know is we can possibly see a sequel to the peculiar Walrus film in the future.

This isn’t the first time either Tusk is being brought up. During an interview on Twitch back in 2020, Smith teased his plot idea, he said.

“There’s a version of Tusk 2 that you do where… you cut to the present, and somebody else gets sucked into the spider’s web. The house, you hear stories, and when you get to the house, the new Howard Howe is Wallace, who has gotten out of the walrus trappings and stuff and is obviously disturbed by his entire ordeal and is now doing it to others. So there’s a way to do Tusk 2, where Justin becomes Michael Parks’s character. Wallace becomes, sort of, the new Howard Howe.”

So Smith has spoken about it in the past, and Long confirms, maybe? Although not a 100% confirmation, but its something to at least look forward to hearing more about in the future. We know Smith will be going into production with The 4:30 Movie after all is said and done with Clerks 3, but it looks like we might have a sequel to the Walrus on the path ahead.

Stay tuned to Geek Vibes Nation as we bring you more news about this.
