In the midst of a much-deserved victory lap, distributor Neon has announced Bong Joon Ho’s Best Picture winner “Parasite” will be added to the prestigious Criterion Collection alongside 2003 crime drama “Memories of Murder”, the director’s first collaboration with “Parasite” star Song Kang Ho.
This is an exciting development for fans looking to delve more into the auteur’s filmography as this will mark the first North American Blu-Ray release of his earlier work. Neon recently acquired the rights to this crime drama and will be giving it a theatrical re-release prior to the home video release. No target date for these titles have been announced as of yet.
Criterion is no stranger to Best Picture nominees as the label has recently given a physical release to last year’s foreign-language sensation “Roma” in addition to the recent announcement that this year’s nominees “The Irishman” and “Marriage Story” would also be joining the collection in the near future.
