The live action adaptation of Detective Pikachu is set to hit the big screen in a little less than a month, and viewers will get a souvenir for going to see the film. Moviegoers will get an exclusive Detective Pikachu promotional trading card. As if going to see a Pokémon movie in the theaters was not nostalgic enough, the Pokémon Company is appealing to 90s babies with this promotion. The card, pictured below, will be handed out opening weekend.
The card features Detective Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) with a cup of his favorite “adult drink”, coffee. One of the moves even plays off Pikachu’s love of caffeine. If you want to collect one of these cards, you are going to have to see the movie early, as they will only be handed out while supplies last.
The card was announced as part of a new promotional video for the film. You can watch the video below.
Detective Pikachu premieres on May 10. It’s directed by Rob Letterma and also stars Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, and Bill Nighy.
