HBO Max is loading up June 2026 with one of its biggest programming slates of the year, highlighted by the highly anticipated return of House of the Dragon, a brand-new comedy series from Larry David, several high-profile HBO documentaries, and a trio of upcoming A24 film debuts.

The month will showcase a mix of fantasy drama, comedy, music documentaries, social commentary, and original films, giving subscribers plenty of reasons to stay locked into the streaming platform throughout June.

‘House Of The Dragon’ Season 3 Arrives In June

The biggest premiere of the month is undoubtedly House of the Dragon Season 3, which debuts June 21 on HBO Max. The eight-episode HBO Original drama series continues the story of House Targaryen, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, the new season brings back returning cast members Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, and Ewan Mitchell, alongside several additional returning characters as the civil war within the Targaryen dynasty intensifies.

Ryan Condal returns as co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer, with George R.R. Martin also serving as executive producer.

HBO also confirmed that House of the Dragon will once again feature an American Sign Language streaming option. Season 3 will launch with ASL support on premiere day, while previous seasons will receive ASL streaming options beginning May 29 and June 15 respectively.

The official companion podcast for the series is also returning and will now stream in video format for the first time.

Larry David Returns With New HBO Comedy Series

Debuting June 26, Life, Larry And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness marks Larry David’s newest HBO Original comedy series following the conclusion of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The seven-episode series comes with a comedic premise centered around America’s 250th anniversary celebration. According to HBO’s official synopsis, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama intended to honor the nation’s milestone celebration before Larry David became involved.

The series reunites David with longtime collaborator Jeff Schaffer, who co-created the project and serves as director. Both Barack Obama and Michelle Obama executive produce through Higher Ground Productions.

The series will also feature select Curb Your Enthusiasm cast members alongside several guest stars.

HBO Documentary Lineup Brings Music, Cults, Climate Stories & More

HBO Max is also bringing an impressive slate of original documentaries and docuseries throughout June.

‘Bring Me The Beauties: A Model Cult’ – June 1

The three-part HBO Original documentary series explores the rise of former male supermodel Hoyt Richards and his involvement with the cult-like spiritual organization Eternal Values during the height of the 1980s New York modeling scene.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Chris Smith, the series examines manipulation, exploitation, and the hidden dangers behind the glamorous fashion industry.

‘Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial Vs. That’s The Weight Of The World)’ – June 7

Directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, this HBO Original documentary chronicles the history and legacy of legendary music group Earth, Wind & Fire.

The film explores the group’s origins through founder Maurice White, while also highlighting the band’s lasting cultural impact, spiritual themes, and influence across multiple generations of music fans.

‘The Welcome Table’ – June 23

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Josh Fox directs this climate-focused documentary examining stories of refugees displaced by environmental disasters across six continents.

The documentary combines music, storytelling, and real-world experiences while centering on a symbolic 1,000-foot table installation along the New Orleans levee where communities gather in solidarity and discussion.

‘Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story’ – June 30

The month closes out with a documentary spotlighting New York public access television icon Robin Byrd.

The film explores Byrd’s groundbreaking late-night television career from 1977 through 1998, her influence on sex positivity, and her status as an early pioneer of creator-driven media long before the rise of internet influencers and social media personalities.

A24 Films Headline HBO Max Movie Premieres

HBO Max subscribers will also gain access to several new A24 films arriving throughout June.

    ‘Pillion’ – June 5

Starring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård, Pillion follows a timid man whose life changes after meeting an enigmatic biker who introduces him to a new world of submission and self-discovery.

The film is written and directed by Harry Lighton.

‘How To Make A Killing’ – June 19

Glen Powell headlines this dark comedy thriller as Becket Redfellow, a disowned heir determined to reclaim his family fortune by any means necessary.

The cast also includes Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Bill Camp, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and Ed Harris.

The film is written and directed by John Patton Ford.

    ‘Undertone’ Also Joins June Lineup

A person in headphones leans over a desk, distressed, while a screen next to them displays a screaming, menacing face in red tones.

HBO Max also confirmed that A24 film Undertone will join the June streaming lineup, further expanding the platform’s growing partnership with the acclaimed studio known for prestige and genre-defying filmmaking.

HBO Max Continues Building A Massive Summer Streaming Slate

Between the return of one of HBO’s biggest fantasy franchises, Larry David’s long-awaited comedy comeback, major documentary premieres, and a strong selection of A24 films, HBO Max appears poised for a major summer streaming season.

House of the Dragon Season 3 is expected to dominate conversation throughout June, while the platform’s documentary lineup could generate significant awards buzz later this year.

Subscribers can expect new episodes of several HBO Originals to release weekly throughout the month.
