Why Joaquin Phoenix Will Give One of the Best Joker Performances Ever

By now, we’re hoping that you have watched the trailer for the Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix. Throughout the years we have had many renditions of the clown prince. We’ve had groundbreaking performances like Heath Ledger, unforgettable acts like Mark Hamill’s voice work, and some who were just okay, and I’ll let you form that opinion on your own. When it was announced that Todd Philips was doing a solo Joker film, which has never been done before; I believe that the casting of Phoenix was met positively, but left some confused considering that in the current DC timeline, Jared Leto plays the notorious Batman villain. This film takes place in the 70s and is not connect with the DCEU, which gives it a freedom to be its own and from what we’ve seen so far, it’s going to be beautiful.

Phoenix has been a talented actor for some time and has given us some powerful performances throughout the years. He brought life to famous singer Johnny Cash in Walk the Line and even gave depth to his character in Her. Phoenix embodies whatever characters he is portraying and produces outstanding material, which is why he was perfect for the role of the Joker. This villain is as synonymous as Batman and we’ve never really explored what made him the way he was except for maybe somewhat of a background story in the show Gotham.

What we are getting in the new Joker movie is the story of a working man, who seems all in all, quite normal. It is the city and life that clearly is the driving point that has Arthur Fleck turn to viewing the world through the lenses of his newfound persona. If you thought that you wouldn’t get to see Phoenix painted and in full Joker guise, think again. Not only did we get a chance to see Arthur as the man, we saw him as the character that has captivated fans for decades. This is a different rendition than what we have gotten before and it’s going to be Oscar worthy, mark my words.
