AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON BLU-RAY! WHY WOMEN KILL Season ONE tells the story of three women living in the same Pasadena mansion in three different decades, a housewife in the ’60s, a socialite in the ’80s and a lawyer in 2018, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series touches on how the roles of women have changed, but how their reaction to betrayal has not. Season TWO features a new ensemble cast and storylines set in 1949 that will explore what it means to be beautiful, the hidden truth behind the facades people present to the world, the effects of being ignored and overlooked by society, and the lengths one woman will go in order to finally belong.

Video Quality
Why Women Kill: The Complete Series arrives on MOD Blu-Ray with a gorgeous AVC encoded 1080p transfer in its 2.35:1 aspect ratio. This release brings both seasons together for the first time in high definition with all 20 episodes on six discs, which allows plenty of breathing room for the encode. This series looks quite nice on Paramount+, but it is a welcome development to have these episodes preserved in high definition on our shelves. Marc Cherry brings his eye for manicured visual aesthetics to this series in a way that is very complementary to the narrative. There is a striking amount of detail on display with subtle facets of the clothing and production design more readily apparent.
One of the most pleasing aspects of this series is the rich colors that saturate the frame. Every hue radiates off the screen and finds nuance within the shades of the different colors. The highlights of the show do not fall victim to any blooming in this presentation. Black levels are nice and deep as they give way to a fine amount of detail in shadows. Skin tones appear consistent and natural across the entire cast. There are no unsightly instances of aliasing or compression artifacts detectable throughout the series. When compared to the streaming version of this show, the Blu-Ray offers greater stability by a notable margin. Fans of the series will be thrilled by how good the show looks on disc.
Audio Quality
This Blu-Ray comes with a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that favorably realizes these stories throughout the run. The show spotlights some music that radiates throughout the room and accentuates the drama on screen. Dialogue comes through clearly without being clipped by any competing actions. Traditional action scenes are not a part of this show’s DNA, but the more exciting moments are given the appropriate representation in the mix when the low end needs to kick in. Ambient sounds are also appropriately realized in the rear channels. The audio track is not lacking in any way, shape or form. There are optional English SDH subtitles provided.
Special Features

Final Thoughts
Why Women Kill delivers exactly what you would expect from a Marc Cherry show. The series is interested in exploring some worthy themes of how women have been and continue to be treated throughout history, but first and foremost is the interest in delivering a soapy, entertaining time. The text is not always as layered or complex as we may want, but the man knows how to make compelling television that keeps you pressing play episode after episode. The series does improve the further you get into it, and the ensemble is tremendous. We are sad the show was cut short after only two seasons, but we are glad to have gotten what we did. Paramount Home Entertainment has released a complete series Blu-Ray set featuring a really lovely A/V presentation but nothing in the way of special features. If you like your dramas a bit campy or soapy, this will be a fun journey for you. Recommended
