‘WICKED’: Reneé Rapp Also In The Mix For Glinda the Good Witch

While Hollywood is trying to get things back in order and begin production on several projects, we have heard another name in the mix for the role of Glinda in Universal Pictures Wicked. Actress and singer Reneé Rapp is on the studios list of potential contenders for the role. Reneé has a theater background and currently is part of the Mean Girls production on Broadway, she plays the role of Regina George. Rapp would for sure be a great choice based on her talents alone and she has the looks for Glinda as well.

We have also reported that Lili Reinhart and Dove Cameron are also on the studios radar for the role of Glinda. As the process is still very early we have no clue as to whether or not Universal has met with any of the actresses or if any offers have been made. Universal has already pushed the Stephen Daldry film out of its December 22, 2021 slot and right now there is no firm date on when production will start. We are still seeing January 2021 as a possible start date but hopefully once Hollywood gets back to work we will know more.

We will continue to monitor this news and bring you more information as we get it.

Wicked synopsis: Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, has gotten a bum rap. Her mother is embarrassed and repulsed by her bright-green baby with shark’s teeth and an aversion to water. At college, the coed experiences disapproval and rejection by her roommate, Glinda, a silly girl interested only in clothes, money, and popularity. Elphaba is a serious and inquisitive student. When she learns that the Wizard of Oz is politically corrupt and causing economic ruin, Elphaba finds a sense of purpose to her life to stop him and to restore harmony and prosperity to the land.
