Development on the TV series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has been halted due to the writers’ strike, according to author George R.R. Martin. The prequel, which is in the writing stages, will explore the three novellas in the “Tales of Dunk and Egg” series, which take place roughly a century before Game of Thrones.
Martin confirmed that the writer’s room has closed for the duration of the strike, but he also noted that the second season of House of the Dragon is able to continue production despite the strike, with filming underway in London and Wales.
“The writer’s room on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has closed for the duration [of the writers’ strike]. Ira Parker and his incredible staff of young talents are on the picket lines.”
House of the Dragon, which premiered last year, explores the history of the Targaryen dynasty and their conquest of Westeros, and has been a commercial and critical success. While fans may have to wait a bit longer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, they can still look forward to the continuation of House of the Dragon. Martin’s expansive universe continues to captivate audiences, and it remains to be seen what other projects may emerge in the future.
