[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”25389″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Big news for WWE. The World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. has named Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff are the Executive Directors. Heyman will be the Exec Director of Monday Night Raw and Bischoff will be fulfilling the same role for SmackDown Live. According to Sports Illustrated, both will directly report to the WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.
It doesn’t seem like there are plans for this announcement to be part of a TV storyline, as they are both full-time executive roles.
Heyman was the ECW president from 1993-2001 and really helped build up the company, especially with pay-per-view events and a cable TV deal with TNN. He’s worked with many on character development for the WWE roster, so this news should boast well for fans. Bischoff, in his role; will work directly with FOX executives.
Bischoff is the former WCW president who started a wrestling war with Vince McMahon in 1995. WCW’s Nitro defeated McMahon’s Monday Night Raw in the TV ratings for 83 consecutive weeks. You can see why someone like this would be wanted for a role he now has.
With these moves, this will allow the WWE to really establish themselves as two distinct brands between Raw and SmackDown.
What do you think about Heyman and Bischoff’s new roles?
