With the arrival of March, we see a brand new line up of titles over on Xbox, completely free for any players with an active Xbox Live Gold membership. The 4 games with gold that are available this month are spread out with two launching on the 1st and two launching on the 16th. All 4 games are playable on your Xbox One but range from new releases to original Xbox classics. Let’s break them down.
March 1st – Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion
Follow Jake and Finn across the flooded land of Ooo on a quest to discover exactly what caused such a disaster. Travel across land and sea, battle pirates, hunt for treasure and, search for clues on an epic quest to solve this mystery. An obvious no-brainer for fans of the show and even for those in need of a good adventure or mystery Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion looks like a wild ride. The graphics are bright and vibrant and from what gameplay I’ve seen it looks pretty fun. Will you be giving Pirates of the Enchiridion a try?
March 1st – Star Wars: Republic Comando
A game that is certain to get Star Wars fans jumping in joy, available also on March 1st for the Xbox 360 this time, Star Wars: Republic Commando. Republic Commando is set during the time of the Clone Wars and puts you in charge of an elite clone unit charged with destroying the Separatist forces across the galaxy. Widely regarded as one of the best Star Wars games ever made Republic Commando tells a fantastic story along with some really cool squad mechanics which allows you to direct your fellow clones and forces you to position them carefully and truly think rather than going in Rambo style. This is simply a must play for anyone who hasn’t picked it up before, especially for Star Wars fans.
March 16th – Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
The Zombie hoards continue their quest for brains but the Plants aren’t going down without a fight in this seriously chaotic and seriously fun action-packed rendition of the classic mobile game. Choose either side in 24 player multiplayer modes, 4 player co-op, or role solo, the choice is yours. Obviously, a bit of an acquired taste but a game with Zombie pirates, and corn on the cob soldiers shouldn’t be taken too seriously. If you’re looking for a relaxed multilayer experience just to chill with some friends then look no further than Plant vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.
March 16th – Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Certainly an interesting twist for the franchise, we warp up our games with gold with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Focusing more on all-out action rather than the tradition Metal Gear games you play as cyborg warrior, Raiden. A soldier since he was a child he is now half man and half machine and is one quest to end a worldwide conspiracy fueled by revenge and wielding a deadly badass katana. Again this might not be for everyone but its gameplay looks intense and satisfying if you’re into the hack and slash style of combat and its story is supposedly one of epic proportions. Will you be giving it a try?
To get your hands on these titles simply head to the Gold area of your Xbox One or 360 or if you’re on the go head over to Xbox.com/gameswithgold and these games will appear in your ‘Ready to Install’ section on your Xbox. Which titles take your fancy? Or will you be giving every single one a try? Personally, I’d have to get Republic Commando and Plants vs Zombies could be good for few laughs.
