You Win or You Die: Theon Greyjoy

So far, I’ve predicted what I think will happen to Missandei, Davos Seaworth, Gendry Baratheon, and Sansa Stark. Now, I’d like to look into what I think will happen to Theon Greyjoy. Similar to Sansa, Theon has been through hell; though one could say he deserved some of what he got. You want to cheer for Theon to do good, and you want him to redeem himself, but at every opportunity he gets, he doesn’t come through. Theon really doesn’t have a ton of fans, for that reason, and also because he’s just a shady person. Will that be the demise of Theon? Who knows, but the last time we saw Theon, he was headed to find Yara after earning the respect of the other Iron Born soldiers.

Why Theon will die: The obvious answer here is because he’s literally going on a hunt for the most powerful, smartest navy commander in the Seven Kingdoms…and Theon can’t fight, at all. We see it in season 2 when Theon tries to behead Ser Rodrick, and fails miserably. Theon can’t lead, like he’s literally incapable of it. Look at season 2 and season 3; he drives Winterfell into the ground, then loses it to Ramsay Bolton. But then again, Theon does have a little bit of a redemption arch throughout the past 7 seasons, and seeing him die would be emotional for a lot of fans, as he one of the only characters left alive from the pilot episode. He’s also, strangely, become one of the more popular characters in the show. It’s amazing to hear the amount of people who couldn’t stand Theon in the earlier seasons, but now think he’s one of the better characters on the show. Which is just another reason for him to die. There’s also the fact that Theon has escaped death countless times, and he’s running out of luck. Ramsay could’ve killed him, Jon could’ve killed him, Euron could’ve killed him (numerous times), yet he’s still here. I will wait for someone to explain how he’s still alive.

Why Theon will live: Well, I wish I could give a more detailed answer, but it’s hard to imagine Theon living, honestly. If he does, it’ll be because he spend the majority of the season at sea, and because Yara will sacrifice herself for her little brother. Theon on land is almost a guarantee for him to die, especially with the White Walkers coming; however, if he can defeat Euron, he could prove to be a vital part of the season, and of Daenerys’ war against Cersei. He’s also escaped death so many times, it wouldn’t be insane to think that he could do it a couple of more times as well. A Greyjoy is going to have rule the Iron Islands at the conclusion of the season, and it could very well be Theon returning home to claim what is rightfully his; however, I just don’t see it happening, sorry you Theon lovers!

Theon’s Survival Chances: In case you couldn’t get the hint, I really don’t see Theon surviving very long in this season. Like honestly, he could very well be an episode 1 death to let the audience know that this season is no joke. I give Theon a 10% chance of surviving season 8. I don’t see Theon fighting the Army of the Dead, I don’t see Theon fighting Cersei, I don’t even see Theon defeating Euron. However, I do see Theon saving Yara. I think Theon will ultimately come full circle and sacrifice himself to save his sister Yara, resulting in Euron killing him. Theon has had a great run on the show, but it’s going to come to an end this season, I just can’t see how he would be one of the characters who lives.
