Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson continues to be one of the busiest actors in show business. Part of that is because he’s always open to new ideas. With that in mind, Deadline has reported that NBC has given a comedy series, entitled Young Rock, an 11-episode straight-to-series order. The series will focus on the early days of Dwayne Johnson.
Fresh Off the Boat creator and executive producer Nahnatchka Khan is heading the project along with Johnson. Khan will also be co-writing the pilot along with Fresh Off the Boat co-executive producer Jeff Chiang. Naturally Johnson himself is set to appear in each of the series’ episodes, more than likely as a narrator for each episode.
This would not be the first project Johnson has partnered with NBC on as his Titan Games is also on the network. All parties involved are banking on the popularity of the Star to help boost ratings and create a successful series. Judging from Johnson’s past success, that seems to be a good bet.
