Zack Snyder Shares New Information About Jared Leto’s Joker in Zack Snyder’s ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’

After Suicide Squad released, fans wondered when they might see Jared Leto return as Joker. Time came and went, WB seemingly passed on a Joker and Harley movie and when they made a Joker movie they went Elseworld, casting Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role. Cathy Yan was hired to direct Birds of Prey which fans thought we might see Leto return as Joker but that did not happen. But thank goodness for Zack Snyder because Jared Leto is back and Snyder has shared some new details about the Joker’s role in Justice League.

SPOILER WARNING

If you have made it this far then that means you want to know what Zack had to say about Leto’s role in Justice League.

Snyder says Leto will sport a bulletproof vest with tons of “grimy” police badges.

“He has tons of badges,” Snyder said. “Those are his trophies.”

Snyder also says we will see Joker in a dream sequence (much like we saw in Batman v Superman) where the Earth is ruined and Darkseid rules over it.  Joker is in the mind of Batman and is motivating him through terror.

“The cool thing about the scene is that it’s Joker talking directly to Batman about Batman, It’s Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s the thing I also felt like fans deserved from the DC Universe. That is to say, the Jared Leto Joker and the Ben Affleck Batman, they never really got together. It seemed uncool to me that we would make it all the way through this incarnation of Batman and Joker without seeing them come together.”

Snyder continues saying

“The scene explains why Bruce had the Joker card taped to his gun that you see in Batman v Superman,”

In regards to the Robin suit from BvS, Snyder shared this

“I’d always wanted to explore the death of Robin, And if there ever was going to be a next movie, which, of course, there probably won’t be, I wanted to do a thing where in flashbacks we learn how Robin died, how Joker killed him and burned down Wayne Manor, and that whole thing that happened between he and Bruce.”

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to arrive on HBO Max, March 18.
