These days, it is so difficult to break into the Instagram game that you may want to give up before you start. If you are really struggling to gather any support, then you can buy Instagram accounts from other people who are more successful. It is a pretty sound way of getting your profile started, but before you open up your wallet to buy a popular account, try a few of these tips first.
1 – Meme it Up
If you are not a hot woman, and you are not a hot-but-popular man like Andrew Tate, then you are going to struggle to get supporters and followers on Instagram. Yet, original memes are still popular and are still a way for less attractive and/or more inventive people to make an impact on social media and on Instagram.
2 – The Oldies Are Still The Goodies
Believe it or not, people actually have nostalgia for old Internet stuff. Rick-Rolling still gets good traction despite being banned on many platforms like YouTube in the USA. World records have been won for Rick-Rolling, and even though it reached its peak in 2008, people are still nostalgic for those times. Bring out a few of the oldies and see if you get any movement in your numbers…you may be surprised.
3 – Cosplay As Everything
Leave nothing out. Be a sexy Minion, be a sexy Gru, be a Ninja turtle with a SpongeBob sidekick. There is almost no way you can go wrong with Cosplay so long as you keep it within Instagram’s rules. This means you cannot cosplay as anything that pushes a conservative viewpoint, and you cannot be something that is too graphic. Remember that graphic doesn’t always mean blood and guts because sometimes that stuff is okay. However, if you dress as a big poop, then you will be canceled (unless it is the cartoony poop emoji, which is okay).
4 – Keep it Karen
There was an online phenomenon about white women who basically complained about things no other person would complain about because they have better things to do with their lives. These are the women screaming at the manager because of their over salted fries. Over time, a haircut became associated with the name, and the influx of ever funny Instagram posts continued. Now we have entered end game, where just about anything goes when it comes to Karen memes. Think of it like the “One does not just walk to Mordor” meme and how that is now at the end of its end game. Run a few Karen posts, and if they are original, at least one of them with gain some pretty good traction.
5 – Support Nothing
This is perhaps one of the most nuanced ways you can gain traction on Instagram because it demands an exquisite amount of intelligence on your part. The trick is to pick a trending issue, and then both support it and not support it. It is very important that if your post is funny, that the punchline doesn’t support one side or the other. It is very difficult to do, but the posts have an almost mind-bending element about them.
For example, you may remember the argument from years ago about if the dress was black and purple or white and gold. It was actually brought on by how different people perceive colors. One guy created an Instagram post saying, “If you ask me, the dress is red and gray,” but the comment was being made by the pictured dog and dogs are color blind.
For example, Dyslexic Jim made a post about how there are obviously more “Genders” than just two. There is horror, sci-fi, romance, comedy, etc., showing on the post that the dyslexic guy thought it said “Genres.” Again, this was a risky move because the gender issue is very important to people who have nothing better to worry about, but the Instagram post became popular simply because it hit upon a trending idea without actually supporting any side of the gender argument.
