Actor Chris Pratt THRILLED To Have Director James Gunn Back for ‘Guardians’

Back in mid-March, Disney managed to do the impossible and reinstated James Gunn as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. He was originally fired by the same company in July 2018 due to some controversial tweets that were over decades-old and had resurfaced back to social media because of an alt-right group of Twitter users. Because of this outcry, Disney resulted in letting go of Gunn indefinitely… or, so we had thought.

If there is one person from the franchise who is very happy about the news, it would be Chris Pratt – the lead actor who portrays the star of the movie, Peter Quill. He recently spoke with People on the red carpet of the Avengers: Endgame premiere and he shared his excitement about having Gunn back to finish off the Guardians triology.

“I was so thrilled, so excited. I think it’s the right move, I really stand behind it,” Pratt said. “I’m really proud of Disney for hiring James back and ultimately thrilled for not only us, but also for the fans. I think it’s going to wrap up the trilogy in the best way.”

One of the big takeaways of Guardians of the Guardians is about second chances and giving people the opportunity to change for the better, and Pratt mentioned this to the reporters and how it applies to Gunn.

“And Guardians of the Galaxy are really all about second chances and giving people an opportunity to be their best. We’re a ragtag squad of people coming together and having each other’s back. I think it really worked out the way it was supposed to, and I feel good about it.”

During the 6 months when he was not employed by Disney, Gunn was hired to direct and write the next installment of The Suicide Squad for Warner Brothers. Now, in a remarkable turn of events, the filmmaker is tasked with directing and writing both two superhero movies for two different studios which I am sure fans are looking forward to watching!

The Suicide Squad will reportedly start production later this year while Guardians 3 isn’t anticipated to begin production until February 2021.
