Actor Spotlight: Do We Appreciate Ben Mendelsohn Enough?

Bright blue eyes. Australian accent. Plenty of talent to pass around. All of that comprises of actor Ben Mendelsohn. Chances are, you’ve watched plenty of films with him in it. Mendelsohn has been in a lot of projects throughout the years, yet when we talk about well-known Hollywood actors, he never seems to be a part of the conversation. Why is that? Why do we not appreciate Ben Mendelsohn enough?

For us fandom fans, Mendelsohn has been in The Dark Knight Rises, Rogue One, Ready Player One, and Captain Marvel. He’s also been in dramas such as 2013’s Starred Up, 2012’s The Place Beyond the Pines, and Netflix’s Bloodline, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. Recently, Mendelsohn was in the HBO adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider. The man has quite the resume.

Another movie I would suggest for Mendelsohn fans, 2012’s Killing Them Softly includes a very funny and dangerous friendship between Mendelsohn and a personal favorite of mine, Scoot McNairy. Brad Pitt is also in this crime drama. Mendelsohn was also in a very taboo and controversial film called Una, with Rooney Mara. There’s plenty of options for fans out there who are wanting to dive deeper in Mendelsohn content after seeing him in so many comic book and fandom projects.

When we think of great actors we think of Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joaquin Phoenix, Tom Hardy, Tom Hanks, Mahershala Ali, and Denzel Washington. Those are household names. Those are extremely talented actors. Let’s include Ben Mendelsohn in that category the next time we’re tallying off who are fantastic individuals.

What are some of your favorite Mendelsohn roles?
