The live-action adaptation of Image Comic’s Cowboy Ninja Viking has gained another role to its already great start. Starring opposite of Chris Pratt himself, actress Priyanka Chopra will be Pratt’s love interest in the film. While Chopra is mostly known for her roles on Quantico and Baywatch, she has been acting in Bollywood since 2001. Chopra reportedly landed the role after beating out several other actresses, due to her chemistry with Chris Pratt.
Cowboy Ninja Viking is an interesting comic that centers around a man with multiple personalities. Pratt Duncan is then recruited by a secret government society and utilizes three personas, a cowboy, ninja, and a Viking. At least Chris Pratt has experience with being a cowboy from his work in Magnificient Seven.
Cowboy Ninja Viking has been in production for quite some time, originally meant to be produced by Disney in 2010. After a few years, Universal acquired the rights to a film adaptation of the comic. Chris Pratt had been cast in 2014. Game of Thrones alum Michelle MacLaren is directing the movie while the script has been written by Dan Mazeau, Ryan Engle, Craig Mazin, Paul Wernick, and David Reese.
It’ll be interesting to see how a comic book concept such as this can be adapted into a live-action rendition, but if Chris Pratt has taught us anything, it’s that he has what it takes to be the leading man. And with someone as talented and well-adored as Priyanka Chopra, we know that we’ll have two leading actors who will look to give us a great performance for everyone to enjoy.
Cowboy Ninja Viking will premiere in theaters on June 28th, 2019.
