Affleck Announces on Kimmel “I’m Not Batman”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/bjGt8hwbXHA” align=”center”][vc_column_text]When news broke a couple weeks ago that a date had been set for Matt Reeves Batman, Ben Affleck was one of the first to comment on Twitter saying

Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life.

This was the first indication that Ben really was hanging up the cape and cowl and would not be returning to the role of Batman, at least not any time soon. During a visit to Kimmel to promote his new film Triple Frontier, Kimmel came right out and asked Ben about the rumors to which Ben replied

“Yeah, I am. I have decided, I tried to direct a version of it, worked with a really good screenwriter, but couldn’t come up with a version. Couldn’t crack it. So I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it and they got some really good people.”

Kimmel then brought out what he said was Ben’s cape and cowl to retire and hang from the rafters but not before taking a jab at Matt Damon and his thong that he wore while filming the Liberace film. Kimmel gave the thong to Ben which Ben then sniffed and commented that it “still had that Damon musk to it”.

So it seems after months of speculation that Ben really is done as Batman and that he will not be coming back as Batman in any form, though things could always change in the future.
