Matt Reeves’s The Batman Looks for “Familiar Face” And Specific Age

There is so much talk around Matt Reeves’s upcoming movie The Batman, which just got an official relate date of June 25, 2021. First of all, the internet is erupting with the confirmation that Ben Affleck will not return to portray Bruce Wayne in this upcoming film and according to Variety, it seems that the studio is looking for someone with a “familiar face” which means we are unlikely to bring in a newcomer to make his stance as the Caped Crusader. To narrow the search down even more, Reeves wants the actor to fit within a certain age bracket, as it seems he’s already declined two choices on the count of “one was too old and the other too young.” Let’s make the obligatory joke and say he’s looking for someone “just right.”

Variety is also hearing that the wheels are moving for The Batman and it could, perhaps; move faster than its intended release date. Good news, right? The next big news will be who Reeves actually decides to make the new Batman. Some choices seem obvious, while I’m keeping an open mind. Of course, I’d love Jon Hamm to take up the mantle, but I know he’s not within Reeves’s age restrictions. And Ben Barnes has expressed interest as well, but who knows if that’s the direction the director wants to go in.
