Alfred Molina Details Doc Ock’s Return in Spider-Man: No Way Home

One of the highlights of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy was Alfred Molina’s Otto Octavious. It was announced previously that Molina would return for Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: No Way Home. There has been lots of speculation around who would or wouldn’t come back for the MCU film, but Molina confesses in a recent interview that he was told to stay mum on the situation:

“When we were shooting it, we were all under orders not to talk about it, because it was supposed to be some great big secret. But, you know, it’s all over the internet. I actually described myself as the worst kept secret in Hollywood!”

Molina continued:

“It was wonderful. It was very interesting going back after 17 years to play the same role, given that in the intervening years, I now have two chins, a wattle, crow’s feet and a slightly a slightly dodgy lower back.”

Now, the film that Molina was originally in came out in 2004. And, his character died. However, Jon Watts had told him that no one really dies in the MCU. And when Molina brought up that he is now 67-years-old and how that would affect No Way Home, Watts had told Molina:

“He just looked at me, and said, ‘Did you see what we did to Bob Downey Jr. and Sam Jackson?’ They made Robert De Niro’s face younger, but when he was fighting, he looked like an older guy,” Molina said. “He looked like an old guy! That’s what that’s what worried me about doing it again. I don’t have the same physicality that I had 17 years ago. That’s just a fact.”

Molina then added:

“I then remembered that it’s the tentacles that do all the work!”

Who else is excited for No Way Home, which is slated to come out this December.
