Fans of the hit 2019 film, Alita: Battle Angel, have been clamoring for a sequel ever since the credits rolled. And now, it looks like their wish might finally come true.

According to producer Jon Landau, a sequel to the movie is officially in development. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Landau confirmed that they are currently working on the project, and even gave fans some details about what to expect.

One of the most interesting things that Landau mentioned was how their work on Avatar has actually helped make Alita: Battle Angel 2 possible. He explained that they have learned so much from working on Avatar about how to add more facial nuance and subtlety to humanoid characters. This knowledge has now been brought back to Alita, which should make the character even more emotive than before.

Landau also gave fans some good news about the involvement of the original director, Robert Rodriguez, and star Rosa Salazar. He confirmed that they are both being talked to and that everything is looking good.

Although it’s still early days for the project, fans will no doubt be thrilled to hear that a sequel is finally in the works. The first film, which was based on the classic Japanese cyberpunk manga series Gunnm, was a huge success at the box office, bringing in over $405 million worldwide.

Fans will no doubt be eagerly awaiting more news about the Alita: Battle Angel sequel as it develops. But for now, it seems that everything is pointing in the right direction.
