All about film making: The Collaborative Art of Filmmaking Virtual Film Festival

Find out what prominent filmmakers have to say about their craft in The Collaborative Art of Filmmaking virtual festival. Starting this Thursday, October 8th through Sunday, October 11th. The festival will feature conversations with filmmakers covering several different departments that make up the film world.

Moderated by Independent Spirit Award Nominated Producer Christine Walker and Director of Diversity Initiatives, Walker and many of her collaborators will revisit a handful of films that have screened at the Provincetown Film Festival and Waters Edge Cinema over the years, offering a unique first-hand behind-the-scenes perspective of the collaborative process.

Topics

Topics will cover the areas of Directing, Producing, Acting, Cinematography and Production Design, and Post Production and Editing. The virtual festival marks the recent launch of the Christine K. Walker Women Filmmaker’s Residency Program at the Mary Heaton Vorse House, a residency program that will take place at the recently restored home of the late journalist, labor activist, and author. The program is also supported by the Provincetown Arts Society and designer Ken Fulk.

Film Artist

The Collaborative Art of Filmmaking Virtual Festival will feature conversations with creatives from such films as Howl, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman; the Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning film American Splendor directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini; Bent Hamer’s Factotum, starring Matt Dillon and Lily Taylor; Easter, written by Will Scheffer (Big Love, Getting On) and starring Jodie Markell; Older Than America directed by Georgina Lightning; Todd Solondz’s Life During Wartime, and Stay Then Go directed by Shelli Ainsworth, among others.
“One tiny bright light during this period of home lockdown is that so many people have been inspired to revisit wonderful films or take a chance on hidden gems. My producing work is made up of many of those gems and I’m excited to not only bring renewed attention to the work but to swap war stories (while celebrating the work of a few unsung heroes) about their role in making the films happen,” says Walker in a press release.
