American Gods and Good Omens’ Neil Gaiman Answers if We’ll See The Sandman Ever Adapted

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”17399″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Neil Gaiman’s American Gods is premiering its second season tonight, while his Good Omens will be premiering in May on Amazon Prime. With so much great content, all from the genius of one man; fans are wondering if we will see another live-action adaptation of Gaiman’s other work. While at SXSW Austin, where he promoted both of the series, he was asked about the possibility of seeing The Sandman or anything Endless related in the future, to which he responded:

“The Endless are owned by DC Comics/Time Warner and not by me,” Gaiman explained. “[Good Omens] getting made, Terry [Pratchett] and I owned it, so we could control where it went. I think as the days go on, as the years go on, the probability that a Sandman thing will happen, obviously, increase continually. But I have no say in anything”.

The Sandman began publication in 1989 and it predates DC’s Vertigo Comics, but it is credited with inspiring the imprint’s creation, and since then has been a staple for the imprint. The Sandman focuses on Morpheus who is also known as Dream of the Endless, who is one of seven siblings who represents the major forces of the universe. Destiny, Death, Destruction, Despair, Desire, and Delirium are some of the other siblings; Dream reemerges after decades in captivity to find that his kingdom is in ruins – which is known as the Dreaming. Thus he must rebuild.

It’s been since the late 90s that The Sandman has been on Warner Bros. list to attempt to adapt, but it’s been a struggle along the way. Now that we are in the world of streaming and Gaiman’s own Good Omens is getting life on Amazon Prime, there’s a possibility we may see The Sandman finally. Would you want to see The Sandman finally adapted? Let us know!
