American Gods’ Dean Winters Returns to Law & Order: SVU For 450th Episode

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”15868″ img_size=”800×533″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]After Dean Winters left Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the first season, it took thirteen years for the actor to reprise his role as Detective Brian Cassidy on the long-running crime show. Since then, he’s sporadically popped up, dating Olivia Benson for some time, and then becoming an investigator for the DA’s office. Which, put him and his former flame at odds for a little while, before they made up, and Cassidy was then accused of killing a child molester (which he was proven innocent of). His last appearance on the show, in season 19; revealed that Cassidy had been molested as a child, which is while he decided to initially leave SVU all those years ago.

Side Note: the real reason was that Winters was committed to HBO’s Oz, which Christopher Meloni was also on.

Now, Winters will be back for SVU’s landmark 450th episode, which will premiere on February 21st. In “Facing Demons”, a young man’s suicide leads the team into investigating a child molestation case, which causes Benson to reach out to Cassidy for help. It’s nice seeing Winters become a reoccurring character and out of Benson’s beaus throughout the series, I really liked hers and Cassidy’s. Although, it always makes me worried with reoccurring characters, as SVU has a tendency to bring characters back only to make them the bad guy i.e. Alex Cabot (in a way), Dana Lewis, and even a long-standing judge on the most recent episode “Brothel.”

Not only will Winters be back on SVU, but you can also catch the actor on the upcoming second season of American Gods as Mr. Town, which will premiere on Starz on March 10th.
