American Gods’ Pablo Schreiber on Mad Sweeney’s Stand-Alone Episode

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”20311″ img_size=”620×420″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Pablo Schreiber’s Mad Sweeney was one of the most captivating characters in Neil Gaiman’s American Gods live-adaptation on Starz. While the foul-mouthed leprechaun had a much more fleshed out storyline in the series than he did in the novel, he still fulfilled his book ending and died. Though, we learned a lot in Sweeney’s final episode “Treasure of the Sun” and it seemed that his death unraveled a lot that his book counterpart never got to do. Regardless, fans do wonder if Sweeney can and will return in American Gods season three. While the actor didn’t reveal anything of that nature, he did speak about Sweeney’s exit in a recent interview with Deadline.

“I want to be in a place where I can be having a really rich, fulfilling collaboration with people that are ready to do their job,. That’s what we got on this episode, and they were jazzed to create this stand-alone thing.”

He continued, in regards to Sweeney’s final episode in season two:

“The process of Episode 7 was this excavation, of digging up. Digging up his past and filtering out the difference of his mythology, what he’s heard about himself, and what might actually be true.”
