‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Director Explains Why He Loved The Mid-Credit Cut Scene

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2470″ img_size=”1100×579″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded”][vc_column_text]For those fans who have watched Ant-Man and the Wasp, it was a rude wake up call when the mid-credits sequence showed how Thanos’ universal SNAP! effected their small part of the world. While doing a guest spot on the Empire Film Podcast, Ant-Man and The Wasp director Peyton Reed spoke about his love for the film’s post-credits scene, which ties into the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

As you likely know by now, (if you haven’t seen it yet, this is your warning to cease reading) the mid-credits sequence featured shows Hank, Hope, and Janet cease to exist due to Thanos’ snap from the end of Infinity War. Meanwhile, Scott Lang’s Ant-Man is trapped in the Quantum Realm, completely oblivious of what is happening. While this probably should have been expected, (although in watching the movie, I was disconnected from the Thanos effect until the dust settled, so to speak) it does however offer a potential setup of the events in Avengers 4. Reed personally loved this scene and here’s why:

“Oh, where are they now? What’s happening in this tag? They’re doing some type of quantum experiment, there’s Luis’s van — throwing all these things at the audience immediately to catch them off guard. Janet’s in street clothes and he’s in the Ant-Man suit, Hope’s handing him something, what are they doing? Something about Ghost? And then, bam, just punching the audience in the gut with it. It felt like a very Ant-Man and the Wasp way to deal with this gigantic, dramatic happening at the end of Infinity War.”

So now Scott is trapped in the Quantum Realm, while Janet, Hank, and Hope are blowing in the wind. Do you share Peyton Reed’s enthusiasm for the mid-credits scene or were you just blown away? GVNation wants your input.
