Anthony Mackie Reveals He Will Not Be Called Captain America

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”28633″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]By now, EVERYONE knows that Steve Rogers passed on his Shield to Sam Wilson at the end of Avengers: EndgameWith that passing of the torch, it was assumed that the Captain America moniker would also be transitioning to Sam. Apparently not. At least not if you are to believe Anthony Mackie.

During Friday’s Disney+ Marvel event, Mackie and Sebastian Stan appeared on the stage to promote their new show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Afterwards, Variety caught up to Mackie and questioned him about the show’s title. Why wasn’t it  Captain America and the Winter Soldier? He responded with an answer that might surprise fans:

I am The Falcon, I will always be The Falcon. The moniker will stay the same.

That certainly seems pretty definitive. However, the way Disney and Marvel are so secretive about what they are going to do, that hardly seems like the end of the story. Or maybe it is? Regardless, we will all know when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier comes to Disney+ in the fall of 2020.

Is it important to you that Sam adopt the Captain America title?  Or can he wield the shield and still be the Falcon? Share your thoughts on the matter with us at GeekVibesNation.
