Apple’s New Space Series Asks ‘What if The Space Race Never Ended’? Starring Joel Kinnaman, Sarah Jones, and Michael Dorman

Apple is officially working on an upcoming untitled series about what would have happened if the global space race had never ended. Being brought on for this new show by Ronald D. Moore, this space drama will feature Joel Kinnaman, Sarah Jones, and Michael Dorman. Kinnaman is known for some physically demanding roles such Takeshi Kovacs in Altered Carbon and Erik in Amazon’s upcoming show Hanna. In the untitled Apple series, he will play a top NASA astronaut, Edward Baldwin. Dorman, best known for Amazon’s spy drama Patriot and Jones, known co-starring in Damnation; will play husband and wife, Gordo and Tracy Stevens; a prominent NASA couple.

There’s no announcements just yet when production will begin or when the show will air, but I’m wondering if it’s possible with the hype for the upcoming First Man movie and the “what if” premise behind The Man in the High Castle that this is where a concept for this series was conceived. Either way, with Kinnaman, Jones, and Dorman, this is going to make for an entertaining show. And considering how serious the space race was in the 20th century between the United States and then Soviet Union, I’m actually excited to see the political climate that will surround the show. And how modern day would have looked if we hadn’t stopped competing with each other.
