One day, when Thomas doesn’t return home before sundown, Paul must leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him. A nightmarish battle ensues that forces the family to execute a desperate plan to survive.

Video Quality
Arcadian comes to Blu-Ray with a great AVC-encoded 1080p transfer that brings this movie to life perfectly well. The transfer maintains a significant level of detail both in the daytime sequences and nighttime shots. Nearly every element from the texture of the vegetation to the clothing is rendered well. The special effects have a variable quality to them, but that is not an issue with the transfer itself. The cinematography captures some sumptuous colors within the environments such as the shades of green within the land surrounding the house. The deep saturation throughout allows for complex hues that bring more out of the picture. The transfer is primarily clear with only brief instances of murkiness during the tense nighttime sequences. Skin tones are natural throughout with some strong details present in certain shots. RLJE Entertainment has done a standout job with this release.
Audio Quality
The film comes with a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that delivers a formidable listening experience. Dialogue comes through crisp and clear without being drowned out by any of the other sounds. Activity in the low end digs deep during the thrilling moments. The score maintains a favorable fidelity that suits the film well. Environmental effects are important within the film, and this track distinguishes each sound with precision. This track delivers a fully realized world replete with unique sonic details. Directionality is accurate so sounds are always naturally rendered when coming from their respective points. RLJE has delivered a top-tier track that serves the film well. Optional English SDH and French subtitles are provided.

Final Thoughts
Arcadian may at times compare unfavorably to other creature features, but it does have a lot to offer. Namely, the designs of the creatures in this story are very creepy and some of the most effective monsters we have seen in a spell. You also have the beautifully unhinged Nicolas Cage, who we would have loved to have seen more of. The two young stars do a fine job, but the script is a bit lacking in significant character development. This one has not had the biggest presence in the early part of the year, but it should not be overlooked if you are looking for a gripping experience. RLJE Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray with a great A/V presentation and a small array of special features. Recommended
Arcadian will be available to purchase on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital on July 23, 2024.

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
