The Little Mermaid live-action remake generated buzz with the rumor that actress Melissa McCarthy might play the villain Ursula. Without concrete confirmation on that report, there are some other roles up in the air.
According to DisInsider, Disney is looking at Awkwafina for the role of Scuttle (a diving bird) and Jacob Tremblay for the role of Flounder. There’s no confirmation if the two had been brought in for talks or if they actually have the role, but since filming is beginning to start next April, I can imagine they want to start planning. Voice work for the film could start as early as January of 2020.
