A Barbie movie is in the works from Mattel and Warner Bros. and it seems that Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are closing a deal to write for the film. Gerwig is also being eyed to direct.
Margot Robbie will star as the iconic toy that has been a part of every child’s upbringing for decades. Previously, it had been reported that Mattel would partner up with Sony for the project and Amy Schumer was meant to star. Since 2014, Schumer has dropped out, Anne Hathaway was meant to step in but didn’t, and the rights went back to Mattel.
