Bautista Unhappy With Disney? Actor Speaks Out On James Gunn Firing

A little over two weeks ago Disney made the decision to cut ties with director James Gunn after some graphic tweets were uncovered.  The tweets were made several years ago and James claims he made the tweets jokingly but now admits now they were inappropriate. Disney did not waste any time severing their relationship with him and thus forcing the studio to look for a new director for its upcoming third entry in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. According to Variety, Disney has no plans to rehire Gunn despite a petition from fans, cast members and friends of the director. One of the most vocal cast members has been Dave Bautista (Drax). The actor has stood fast in his defense of Gunn and recently spoke out against Disney it seems. Dave was asked by a fan on Twitter if he had a response to Disney should they not rehire Gunn and Bautista replied with the following tweet

Dave does not directly call out Disney or Marvel but the writing is on the wall. Director Scott Derrickson left Twitter in protest of James firing as did actress Selma Blair. X Disney’s main demographic is children and families and James’ tweets consisted of pedophilia and rape, not a good look for the studio. Some fans even criticized Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 for its over the top sexual jokes and degrading comments made towards the character Mantis played by Pom Klementieff. Pom has stated she does not like what James said in his tweets but she does consider him a good man and she hoped Disney would bring him back for the third film. Disney has not made any further comments since it initially reported it was letting James go. Disney is in the middle of finalizing its deal to acquire FOX Studios and with Avengers: 4, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Captain Marvel slated to release soon, the studio might not be in a rush to comment further on the situation.

How do you feel about Dave’s comments? Do you agree with him or do you think Disney did the right thing? Leave us a comment below.
