Brad Pitt and Rachel Weisz To Join ‘Kingsman: The Great Game’

Matthew Vaughan has been a busy man these days. As reported previously, he has been planning to shoot a third Kingsman film which would be a completion of the Harry and Eggsy story from the first two Kingsman movies and shoot it back-to-back with a prequel film entitled The Great Game. Now, the Hashtagshow.com has reported some new casting news for the prequel, Kingsman: The Great Game.

The prequel will be set during the World War I and Vaughan has decided to concentrate on some of the most important historical people and events of the early 20th century. It was reported that the film’s protagonist would be named Conrad, the self-assured young son of a British Duke, who is determined that he wants to serve his country. It has now been revealed that his parents will be the Duke and Duchess of Oxford and that Conrad will find himself confronting some of history’s most dangerous spies and assassins. The studio has cast this role selecting 22-year old British actor Harris Dickinson.

Back in August it was also reported that the film would feature an older male and that Ralph Fiennes was on the studio’s short list. Now it can be revealed that Fiennes has indeed joined the cast in a role that may very well be Conrad’s father, the Duke of Oxford.

A couple of other roles for the film have two prominent actors on their radar but neither has been signed at this time. One will feature another prominent member of the Oxford household: Conrad’s nanny, Polly. She is described as a formidable force of nature, and she was instrumental in raising Conrad. She is also not afraid to take on his father. They are focusing on Rachel Weisz to fill this role.

The other role will be Grigori Rasputin who was one of the most influential historical figures in WWI. Rasputin had considerable influence during that period especially over Tsar Nicholas II after winning his favor by “healing” his hemophiliac son Alexi. It is thought that the film will focus on Rasputin’s “unscrupulous and Machiavellian” ways in what would become the eventual end of Russian Imperialism. The actor the studio has circled for this role is Brad Pitt. It should be noted that while he is their first choice, no negotiations have commenced at this point.
