Fans of the popular TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be able to enjoy a new comic book series, obtained by BOOM! Studios. There are no plans yet for the franchise, but we have some teaser art that is sure to get everyone buzzing in the meantime.

The art looks great and we can see Buffy in a high school setting, but it looks like a modern-day cell phone is in her hand, something she would have never had in the original show. Could we be getting a more modern-day Buffy? The original series started in 1998, before the latest iPhone was out. Joss Whedon, original creator of Buffy, had teamed up with Dark Horse Comics to continue Buffy’s story in 2007, but the announcement that BOOM! Studios has acquired the rights brings the former relationship to a close.

This is the second project of Whedon’s for BOOM! To obtain, also bringing in popular cult TV show Firefly to their house.

What are your thoughts about this? Are you excited to see BOOM! Take over from Dark Horse?
