To no one’s suprise Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has had its fair share of data miners digging around. As a result of all that snooping, we now have huge details about a possible Battle Royal mode coming soon.
We have infamous Call of Duty leaker Senescallo to thanks for all these juicy details. He has since posted them over on the Modern Warfare subreddit for you to check out yourself. We have an image of the game modes gigantic map (see below). Furthermore, we know the game mode should be released sometime in early 2020. The all-new Battle Royal mode is apparently being co-developed by both Activision and Raven.
The leaks not only give us info regarding perks, gear, killstreaks, points of intrest and so on. They also seem to state the gamemode will have a ginormous player count of 200! It also states there will be modes for solo, duos and of course 4 player squads.
As a few players have already started to point out, Modern warfares Battle Royal map seems to be following in Black Ops 4’s footsteps. The map is made up of already existing Ground War multiplayer maps as well as Spec-Ops co-op maps. That puts into perspective just how huge this map will be, and rightly so. A 200 player count isn’t something to be taken lightly.
As well as the map, the leaks talk in-depth about a new interesting sounding spawn system. Players can loot respawn tokens during a match, but once you use one they are disabled for you. Respawning a squadmate involves you burning your token and dragging their body to an ambulance. After saving your fellow teammate they are entered into the Gulag queue. This Gulag queue doesn’t stay open forever so respawns are limited.
The Gulag
This Gulag sounds super interesting. It’s a prison camp of sorts where eliminated players can fight in 1v1’s to earn there right to respawn. If your down and out you can spectate the Gulag fights with a timer telling you how long it is until your up to battle. Eventually, there’s a “jailbreak” mechanic that kicks all players in the Gulag back into the match at once. You can even place bets on whos going to win in the Gulag using Plunder.
Speaking of Plunder you can earn it by completing missions during Battle Royal games and also by taking out enemies. You can spend Plunder on items at Plunder boxes or even convert it into XP by depositing it into an ATM. These ATMs are inside banks which set off alarms once you enter altering enemies to your location. Talk about high-risk high reward.
On a Mission in Battle Royal
Some of those missions you can take part in during a Battle Royal game include Assassinations, killing a specific enemy player. Domination, capturing a domination point, and finally Scavenger hunt, collecting scavenger crates. It’s worth noting loot can be found in different rarities which is pretty standard for a Battle Royal game (white, green, blue, purple, gold). Senescallo’s notes also talk about armor stats, inventory space and the settings to expect from a public match of Battle Royal.
Now, whilst all this info is still unconfirmed it is a massive reveal for fans about what to expect from Modern Warfare in the near future. Whilst we still don’t know how this content will be given to us I think Infinity Ward’s recent free post-launch content is a good sign for things to come. Besides I’m sure Activision will be raking the dollars in because where there’s a Battle Royal, a Battle Pass is never far behind.
