Cancellations for The Punisher and Jessica Jones Seem Imminent

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”15455″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist have all been casualties of everything going on between Disney and Marvel and Netflix. The Punisher just premiered its second season last month and Jessica Jones will premiere its third season in the summer. Though nothing has officially been said yet, it’s expected for both series to not get another chance to tell their stories. It’s ultimately Netflix that has the power to cancel these shows and with Disney partnering with Hulu for new animated Marvel shows and the Disney+ service preparing for Marvel originals, it’s unlikely The Punisher and Jessica Jones will be renewed.

Ultimately, I’m disappointed, but not surprised. Krysten Ritter and other stars of Jessica Jones have not commented, but Punisher star Jon Bernthal expresses he’s at peace with that which is out of his hands:

“I really only worry about the things I can control. When I’m playing the character and I’m doing the job and it’s right there in front of me, I do whatever I can to make it as good as I can,” he told Variety last month.

“But in this business there’s so much we can’t control. Whatever is happening with these shows, these decisions are being made in rooms I’m not invited into and I’m OK with that.”

Either way, Daredevil stars Vincent D’Onofrio and Amy Rutberg both expressed their shock at Daredevil’s cancelation, which had its strongest season in its third season; and both actors shared the #SaveDaredevil petitions that are circulating the internet.
