Captain America and Black Widow “Hardened” From After ‘Infinity War’

While the two had a few interactions in the first and second Avengers, it was the Russo Brothers who really set the foundation for a great team when they brought the two together in Captain America: Winter Soldier. From then on, the two had each other’s backs; even when they stood on opposite sides in Captain America: Civil War. They were on the run together along with Sam Wilson in the interim between Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, and are two of the survivors of Thanos’s mighty finger snap. Without Falcon by their sides, they’ll go back to being a duo instead of a trio, although we know that after Thanos, nothing will be the same.

“In Winter Soldier, what we found so compelling about pairing [Black Widow] up with Captain America was that he is a service paragon of morality and she is a paragon of gray.” Joe Russo spoke on the relationship between Natasha and Steve Rogers.

According to Joe Russo, Black Widow and Captain America will become hardened after the events of Infinity War. Infinity War definitely brought us a more serious Steve Rogers, no longer the bright eyed optimist we have been used to seeing. Considering Natasha grew up to be a trained assassin, I can only imagine losing so many friends and comrades will make her retreat back into herself and dial down any emotions she may have been developing. I can also imagine that this will probably be an unanimous feeling among the survivors.

One of those survivors is of course Tony Stark. Now on Thanos’s abandoned home planet alone with Nebula, he just not only all the people he just met turn into ash, but Peter Parker. The hero that he had personally brought in during Civil War, we’ve seen a trend of a father-son relationship between the two throughout the movies and considering Stark had expressed how Parker’s hypothetical death would be on him in Spider-Man: Homecoming, I can only imagine how he is actually feeling now that the friendly neighborhood hero is dead.

“I think, in a lot of ways, he is the heart and soul of the Marvel universe,” Joe Russo said. “He’s a fascinating character, a character that we love because he is imminently flawed and we like characters that are challenging and express their humanity and I think Tony Stark does that as well as any of the characters. He started off as a narcissistic alcoholic and grew into a hero which, I think, makes him imminently relatable and signifies what the Marvel universe stands for, which is character first and the heroes are defined through the choices that they make.”

We shall see how every character is shaped by Thanos’s choice in Avengers 4 in 2019.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
