[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”24750″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Last week, Blumhouse surprised horror fans with the news that Black Christmas was getting remade, and now another huge announcement regarding the film has come today – Cary Elwes will be joining the cast.

The legendary actor will be “playing a main part in the film, but details of the role were not disclosed.” Elwes is no stranger to horror, having starred in 2004’s Saw and season 3 of Stranger Things, streaming on Netflix July 4th. Also starring are Imogen Poots (Green Room, Fright Night), Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O’Grady, Lily Donoghue, and Caleb Eberhardt.

Directed by Sophia Takal (who directed another Blumhouse property – New Year, New You) and written with April Wolfe, the new film will focus on sorority girls at Hawthorne College who are being killed on campus by an unknown stalker. The original Black Christmas was released in 1974, followed by a remake in 2006. The 2006 version starred Michelle Tractenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (13 Cloverfield Lane), Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls) and Katie Cassidy (Arrow).

The new remake is scheduled to hit theaters this December the 13th.
