[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”30009″ img_size=”681×383″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]We recently found out that Marilyn Manson was joining American Gods in season three. Now, we have more casting news for the third installment of the popular Starz series.
Blythe Danner will join American Gods for a four-episode story arc. Danner will play Demeter, who is the Greek Goddess of the harvest who has an unresolved history [romantic] with Ian McShane’s Mr. Wednesday/Odin. Wednesday will have to contend with her involuntary commitment to a mental institution if he wants her help in his war against the New Gods.
Having more Greek gods/mythology involved and Danner to boot sounds amazing.
Season three will see Ricky Whittle’s Shadow Moon attempting to break away from the war between New and Old Gods in Lakeside, WI. Finding out who Wednesday is to him has him wanting to step away, but readers of the book know what Lakeside means and what dark secret awaits him. On a spiritual journey, Shadow is lead by the gods of his black ancestors, the Orishas, and Shadow must decide who he is.
Executive producer Chic Eglee commented:
“It is a rare privilege to be working with Ms. Blythe Danner, a dear friend, inspiration and national treasure. She is our muse in crafting the role of Demeter, since no one else can bring such ethereal beauty and grace to the portrayal of a goddess.”
Are you excited for Danner to join American Gods season three?
