CBS Approves DC Comics ‘Secret Six’ Pilot

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”8183″ img_size=”1000×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]While DC Films are trying to re-establish their footprint in the movie landscape with films like Aquaman, Wonder Woman 1984, and Shazam!, their TV properties have been humming along with five DC shows that are currently airing on The CW. That includes “Supergirl,” which originally premiered on CBS. “Gotham” meanwhile is preparing for its fifth and final season on Fox. In addition, Syfy airs the Superman prequel series Krypton while DC has also launched the streaming service DC Universe in September, which includes its first live-action series “Titans” that is set to make its official premier on Oct. 12.

WIth that kind of track record in TV production, Variety has learned that CBS is tapping the DC well as they are developing a drama series based on the DC Comics property “Secret Six.”

So far, the project has received a pilot production commitment at the network with possibly a series if the pilot goes well. The storyline follows six morally challenged strangers, who each are have their own unique abilities  and secrets in their pasts. These individuals are brought together by an unknown entity who blackmails them into working as together as a reluctant team to bring into focus the corruption of the powerful and elite.

During the history of the Secret Six, a variety of characters have been members. These include Bane, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, the Mad Hatter, and the Penguin among others. At this time, it has not been revealed which characters would be used in the series.

Rick Muirragui will write and executive produce, with Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold executive producing via Doozer Productions all under the Warner Bros. label.
