Quite possibly one of the most adorable shows on cable TV has returned. CBS’ Ghosts returns for season four and finally, patience has paid off for us. Season three ended with Isaac breaking things off with Nigel, at the alter. The basement ghosts, feeling offended due to not being invited to the wedding; devised a plan to have Isaac face a ghost he had betrayed long ago – Patience, a Puritan ghost who Isaac, Sass, and Thor had left 130 years prior in the dirt.

“Patience” – While Sam and the ghosts race to find him, Isaac comes face to face with Puritan ghost Patience (Mary Holland) for the first time since she was lost in the dirt, on the fourth season premiere of the CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, Oct. 17 (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. Isaac is pulled into the dirt by Patience and the ghosts have to devise a plan to get him back. The first episode immediately tackles season three’s cliffhanger, but unlike season two’s cliffhanger, season three’s is resolved in one episode. Patience is clearly here to stay, for now; and while Pete’s wife’s ghost wasn’t really a hit, Patience could provide an interesting dynamic to the group. She’s a little extreme and her background clips, as well as some current moments; kind of bring a more horror-filled aspect to these fun happy ghosts. Though, there’s certainly room for redemption and there’s some really insightful moments from Sass in this episode.

Sam and Jay take a little bit of a backseat in this episode – though, it’s hard to outshine the ghosts. There’s not much to say about these two characters from the first episode alone, so let’s just focus on the ghosts. On top of meeting the new ghost Patience, this episode heavily focused on Isaac and Sass, but it’s always fun getting to see the basement ghosts.

There’s not much else to say other than that the first episode feels just like a continuation of the story and it just feels good to have Ghosts back. How will Patience work out as a house ghost? Will Sam and Jay continue taking a backseat? Let’s see!
