The last time we saw our beloved Ghosts was during the Christmas/Holiday special on CBS. This past Thursday, the show returned with a fun, yet quirky episode to ring in the new year. Slight spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t seen this past week’s episode, make sure you watch it first!

“The Perfect Assistant” – Sam and Jay are thrilled when they find a highly qualified assistant for the B&B – however, their new employee comes with some surprising baggage. Also, Thorfinn tries to help his son, Bjorn, deal with a bully, on the CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, Jan. 5 (8:31-9:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Slight Spoilers

I’d like to start off the bat by saying that I do wish the episode would have acknowledged what happened in the previous episode. In the post-credit scene for the holiday special, Trevor and Hetty lock lips in a passionate kiss that left all of us stunned. The show doesn’t touch upon this again and perhaps it’s something that will be mentioned later, or maybe they felt that it wasn’t as big of a deal as we all thought it was; but still, acknowledgment would have been nice.

Regardless, there were some new additions to this episode and the guests really made for a great time. As you know, our main characters Sam and Jay are running a Bed and Breakfast and they now need help. In walks Freddie, who is the perfect assistant in every way. Things get interesting when Jessica is introduced, a ghost that’s bound to Freddie’s car. Not only is this interesting due to the small window of space the ghost has to be tethered to, but Jessica also claims Freddie killed her. This is shocking to both the audience and Sam and Jay, as not only is Freddie very helpful, but extremely pleasant.

The episode is a cute fluff piece and, although it has a few ups and downs, it comes around in the end. In addition to this happening, we see the return of Thor’s son Bjorn. I’m glad they brought him back so that Thor and Bjorn could continue their awkward father/son relationship. I had thought Bjorn may be a one-off, but seeing him return is nice. I like the continuity of ghosts and I wonder if we’ll see ghosts from the past return, such as the mansion’s resident attic-dweller, Stephanie.

There isn’t a lot to say about this episode, other than it was a cute and fun time. I’m really looking forward to when the show revisits Hetty and Trevor’s makeout and continuing the search for Alberta’s murderer. Plus, I know that this has kind of been put on the backburner, but I’d like to see something more come out of Thor and Flower’s “budding” relationship. If anything happens at all, it’d be nice.

What’d you think of this past week’s episode of Ghosts?
