Charlie Cox Comments on Bullseye and #SaveDaredevil

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12296″ img_size=”825×464″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]It’s been a tough couple of months for those of us who are fans of the Marvel content Netflix has put out. Since 2015, we’ve enjoyed multiple chapters in this TV Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is unfortunately seemingly coming to an end. With Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil getting canceled, it’s understood that The Punisher and Jessica Jones will most likely get the same treatment, ultimately ending this short-lived journey.

One of the most disappointing cancellations is that of Daredevil, which is arguably regarded as the best in the Netflix MCU. While season three wrapped up nicely, there was clearly more of the story to tell and in a recent interview, the star of Daredevil, Charlie Cox, spoke about the already mapped out season four that we’ll never see.

“They’d had a preliminary conversation with me about what might happen and who might be involved or what the story might be” the actor confesses. He adds, “That was exciting me and what I heard was very exciting. So, I had a vague sense of what the show might be. I had some idea.”

He then spoke about the character Bullseye, who we saw at the end getting surgery after Wilson Fisk pummeled him into a pointed edge of a concrete pillar:

“I was looking forward to Wilson Bethel kind of getting to inhabit the character of Bullseye.” Cox adds, “Season 3 was kind of an origin story for the character and how Agent Poindexter becomes that character. So, I was looking forward to having a season where he really embodies the Bullseye persona and what that dynamic would be between Bullseye and Daredevil.”

“I know that it’s not personal, or it certainly doesn’t feel personal to me. Obviously, I’m very saddened by the cancellation and I was shocked by it because Season 3 had been so well received. I imagined we would continue making the show.”

Cox then commented on the #SaveDaredevil movement that has garnered a lot of signatures for the petition of Change.org where fans are trying to rally support for the series:

“I think it’s awesome there’s a petition. It’s lovely that people want their voices to be heard and say they want the show to come back, and maybe that will have an influence … if there is a possibility for it to come back, I think the petition can’t hurt. It’s a reminder of how popular the show was and that’s really, really cool. Last I heard we’re near approaching 200,000 signatures, which I think is a lot.”

While these cancellations are heartbreaking, I certainly feel that making those in a higher up position in studios such as Netflix and Marvel isn’t a bad thing. And these shows can still be enjoyed on Netflix; the Punisher just premiered its second season and Jessica Jones still has a third season to premiere, although there hasn’t been any word yet as to when that is supposed to happen.
