‘Cherry’ Is Acquired by Apple Original Films and Will Premiere on Apple TV+ in 2021

Apple Original Films has acquired worldwide rights to Anthony and Joe Russo’s film Cherry for over $40 million. Cherry is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Nico Walker. The movie is all finished and will become an awards season entry.

Tom Holland stars as a young Cleveland man. Holland’s character becomes an Army medic in Iraq. After seeing the carnage and violence overseas, he returns comes with a case of undiagnosed PTSD. His character is then prescribed Oxycontin. Things take a turn for the worse after he and his wife move from pills to Heroin – which forces him to rob banks to feed his habit. As well as pay off his debts. The character’s wife is played by Ciara Bravo.

The Russo Brothers grabbed the film and produced it under their AGBO banner. The brothers are from Cleveland themselves, where Oxycontin has effected many in their hometown. The movie will premiere on Apple TV+ sometime early in 2021.
