‘Child’s Play’ Getting the Reboot Treatment

You had to see this coming, didn’t you? We are in the era of reboots. Anything that once was is getting either a sequel twenty something years later or rebooted entirely. Now, I’m not complaining. There are many times that it actually works. The first Jurassic World brought back some wonderful memories of Jurassic Park, while still being new. And yes, I did enjoy Jurassic World 2. I’m not going to go into just all of the examples of reboots that worked and didn’t work. Let’s talk about the fact that one of the horror movies that made you cry and laugh when you were younger is getting rebooted.

No, it’s not Halloween (that comes out October 19th), Friday the 13th, or Nightmare on Elm Street. Child’s Play is getting redone. The movie about an evil killer being transformed into the body of a doll is underway, according to the director. Lars Klevberg is serving as the director for the reboot of the 1988 horror slasher film, stating that production has already started, with a script by Tyler Burton Smith. Below you can see an Instagram post teasing the start of production and even though there is no telling when a full-on start of filming will begin, we can all have fun speculating.

Apparently, Liv Tyler has been eyed for a role in the movie, but I stress that nothing is confirmed yet. If this is true, though; it would be nice to see Tyler back on screen since her projects have been few and far in between since The Incredible Hulk in 2008. There is also a Chucky TV series in the works as well. What are your thoughts on this new announcement? Good idea? Or enough reboots?
