As much of a bond as they seem to have in the movies, their relationship is ever more prominent off-screen. According to Hemsworth, the two are so close that it actually prevented them from being paired up together on press tours:
“With Chris Evans, I have a real brotherly bond. I think they wouldn’t pair us up on this press tour, because we just spend the whole time screwing around and none of it is on topic.”
Evans then confirmed:
“We had too much fun together, and truly like kids in school, we were separated because we weren’t getting s— done.”
Evans then added:
“I would love to do one of those ’80s buddy comedies, where we could shed the characters we are known for.”
Considering Evans has retired from the MCU and we aren’t sure the next time we’ll see Hemsworth reprise his role as Thor, I think we should see a buddy comedy with the two. After all, Thor: Ragnarok stars Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are starring together in Men in Black: International after being paired together as Thor and Valkyrie. Why not Evans and Hemsworth?
After the two explained the first time they met and how they stayed out to 7 am together, Hemsworth commented that it would be easy going forward, working together. To this, Evans responded:
“That’s the way it’s been across the Marvel landscape. It’s always felt like old hat with the cast.”
This is amazing to hear, as the cast always seems to have such a great chemistry between all of them. We’ll miss Evans as Captain America and especially miss his great moments with Thor, but Hollywood, if you’re listening, let’s get that buddy comedy out!
Avengers: Endgame is still in theaters!
