Clark Gregg: Keeping His Appearance on ‘Agents of Shield’ Secret Was Hard

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”16290″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]When we left Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Phil Coulson was left on a beach in Tahiti with Melinda May to spend the little time he had left. Of course, that was originally set-up with the idea that the 5th Season might be the last. We now know that ABC decided instead to renew the longest running Marvel TV series not only for a 6th season but also added a 7th season as well.

With that in mind, the writers had to decide what they would do as far as Coulson’s status. When they decided the direction they would go, they then had the problem of keeping their plans out of public consumption until they were ready. Being Marvel, they were fairly successful. Other than releasing that    Clark Gregg would be directing the first episode, no other information was revealed. No pictures of Gregg on the set surfaced and when anyone commented, it was to talk about the team mourning Coulson’s passing. This made the ending appearance of the man who would be Coulson on the teaser trailer that more impactful.

Great efforts were made to keep details underwraps as cast and crew took this seriously with some admitted pananoia in their efforts. Recently, Gregg discussed the difficulties of keeping his involvement a secret and the fact that he hasn’t seen the results yet.

It’s been weird having to stay quiet. This has been a weird one because we’re not on the air, we’re taking a year off… and because Season 6, you’ll see, takes a lot of chances, once again. And it’s a little weird to not have ever seen any of it. I’m nervous!

Put me in the same boat as you Clark. I have NO IDEA what the creative minds behind AOS have concocted for this season and they have just started production on Season 7. Do you have an opinion on who Clark Gregg’s character is supposed to be? Will he be there for the Seventh Season? Share your Shield intel with us at GVNation. Really, I NEED to know!
